Are you guys watching "Alaska Week" on Discovery Channel? |
|
The two-hour presentation "Expedition: Alaska" last night was really excellent. I don't know if it's going to be replayed, but if you happen to catch it, I think you'll really enjoy it.

2. There was some really amazing footage |
|
of different areas of the state, including the filmmakers in a kayak, completely surrounded by breaching humpback whales. It was really amazing -- and terrifying -- something I had never seen before.
Also they had some very interesting observations about the effects of climate change here, melting glaciers and polar ice, and tons of methane being released into the atmosphere from melting permafrost, which will likely have far more serious effects on the earth's temperature than CO2 emissions ever thought of.

I see there are two Expedition Alaska episodes scheduled tonight on Discovery. One each at 8:00 and 9:00 Eastern
I'll be checking them out this time around.

4. If it's the same one I watched, |
|
it's actually two hours of one program. It's really well worth watching, not just for the beautiful scenery but also for the climate change implications.
