Taken a few minutes ago, and just yesterday we were out staining fences and planting seeds. :grr:

1. I can empathize. There's nothing like with old man winter pulling the rug from underneath ya
:grr:

2. It's still coming down.
It looks like somewhere between six and eight inches right now. We're usually done with snow by this time of the year -- maybe Mother Nature is trying to re-establish the polar ice. If that's what's going on, I guess I won't complain. It does kind of put a damper on my gardening, though.

6-8 is a town stopper around here. I'd cry if I woke up to that tomorrow.

5. View 'em and weep...

Leaning up against the fence is one of the beautiful trellises that my husband built and was planning to attach to the back fence this morning, so I could plant my sugar snap peas.

And looking toward the back yard.

Since we're obviously not going to be walking this evening. :) :hippie:

I guess I'll spend some time tonight transplanting my lettuce and broccoli seedlings into bigger containers, since it looks like it's going to be a while before I can get them out in the ground.

Oh, well, this IS Alaska, after all.

9. FWIW...
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 12:36 AM by regnaD kciN
...we got snow several times last week in Seattle (where, normally, you don't get any white stuff after mid-February at the latest). Very little of it stuck, and it was gone within a few hours, but, still, it's not supposed to happen this late around here.

Global climate change? Of course not...that's merely a conspiracy of left-wing scientists to destroy free-market capitalism, right?

8. It gets worse...
We officially have 10 inches now and they're predicting another 8 to 15 inches overnight. The only good thing is that it's supposed to turn to rain tomorrow, so hopefully it'll melt quickly. The snowplows had all been put away for the winter, so they won't even be out on the road to clear things off until after 7:00 p.m. We've had over 100 accidents in town today, including one fatality. It's really a mess.
