Are they going to keep deliberating through the night?

2. At least there's someone else there updating the comments...
...so we don't have to worry that no news = bad news.

(Although I must admit I'm nervous as hell about this. :scared: )

3. Me too, a long deliberation is not
usually good news for defendants

4. Actually, it is...
Generally, if a jury is going to convict easily, it will return the verdict very quickly.

What I'd be worried about is if you get a jury who, essentially, decides "these charges are bogus, but we can't send a message that it's O.K. to disrespect the police, so we'll convict on one or two charges and acquit on the rest" -- especially if the charge(s) they decide to "send a message" with carry jail time.

7. The verdict is in...
...and, just as I feared, it was a "split decision."

Not guilty on disorderly conduct.

Not guilty on unlawful refusal to obey a police officer.

Guilty on resisting arrest without violence.

Guilty of obstructing a public highway.

He’s gonna have to do 100 hours of community service, 1 year probation and pay about $400 in court costs.

The judge got high and mighty saying Carlos was cavalier during the trial and we found out the jury felt that Carlos hurt himself by testifying.

But Carlos was offered time served when he was arraigned. He refused that because he felt he was innocent. He shouldn’t second guess himself because he wanted to tell his side of the story.

10. Does he need money for court costs
I know those fees can add up and I'm sure plenty of DUers would love to help out his case. I've met RiM and he's just the absolute Best and this whole case just sucks!
