Is there a way to defeat DU's photo size limit? |
|
I've finally got around to stitching together my first panorama shot and can't get it upload at anything but a width limited (a bit over 1000 pixels) size...of course this makes the vertical size miserably tiny. Finished .jpg is 4500x700 and under 400k. (Original is a whopping 650 meg.)
I was going to post the tiny one here and provide a link to the Photobucket full size image, but the filters here won't let me link it, as DU parses it and tells me it's not valid HTML (the link ends in .jpg, so it knows it's a pic)
Flickr is out, it limits the image to a mere 1024 pix wide. :(
I don't have an active web page, else I'd post it to a page of it's own and link that, but obviously that's out at least for now. (All I wanted you folks to do is have to scroll sideways a little! With a dial-up user warning, of course.)
Any ideas?

Post the tiny one here with no link to the full version.
Everyone can see the smaller version. Then provide the direct link to the full sized version, but make the extension .jpgx and tell people to copy/paste the url to their browser and strip off the final "x" in order to view the Photobucket full sized original.

2. This is the first I've heard of this limit, outside of sig lines |
|
I suggest using Flickr, accounts are free, and it will resize the picture to the usual options, and keep the original.

3. You were right, at least partially... |

It wasn't DU, it's both Flickr and Photobucket. Both place pixel dimension limits on hosted images that you link, even in their "pro" modes. (Flickr limits links to around 2500 pixels longest dimension. The free accounts have even smaller limits. I can't even view my original on Flickr because I'm not a "pay" member. Photobucket lets me see it (after some click through contortions), but can only link to a 1024 pixel resized image.
I found Imageshack will allow full size linking, but their copy and paste links won't work with DU's http filter. I managed to figure a way around that as well, so at least for now, I'm happy. :)
