I keep missing "T"
So here's a couple of T photos:

1. I love turtles!
Does this fellow (gal?) just live in your yard or is it a pet? I've always had a dream of having a miniature railroad/town running through a veggie-n-fruit garden with one or twoof these box turtles living there--so it would look like Attack of the Giant Turtles!

OK, I'm weird, I know it.

2. More turtles!
I was waiting for T, too. I love the second pic, "Who me? Eat tomato? No, that not tomato juice on side of face."

Double-decker "sunbathing" during the winter months in one side of my kitchen sink.

Little D

I've had the larger turtle since 1983. She was just about the size of a silver dollar then. The smaller one was given to me a year ago by my neighbors who found her crawling in their front yard. I didn't realize it at the time, and assumed she was someone's escaped pet, but she may have actually crawled out of the river in back. I think this type of turtle may be native to the area, though I've never seen one in the river before, snappers, yeah, but not a painted.

During the summer they have an outside enclosure (an old wire dog crate) with their own little swimming pool, shaded areas, and places to bake in the sun. During the winter, I've found the best way to get them some basking time is on one side of the kitchen sink with a basking light. I feed them there also. I tried for years to keep the bigger one in an aquarium, but she kept breaking the filters, and cleaning it was a huge chore. They are pretty dirty. So now they alternate between the kitchen sink, and drying out and snoozing in a real fancy cardboard box. Ha!

4. ROFL
All I have to worry about is bunny rabbits, raccoons and foxes or coyotes. Well, deer, too. But never turtles.
