Oh, Maestro............

juvenile yellow crown?????

I was on a friend's dock and this guy just POSED for me.. How I wish our positions had been reversed - been nicer if he had the bay as background as opposed to mower & trash can.

4. oh jhain
so sorry I missed you again. You wouldn't have wanted to see me anyhow, I was spreading germs and in the process of getting sick. Got a doozy of a cold on my vacation. Couldn't taste anything all week. Dammit! It really cut down on my pina colada consumption too. :(

My husband ended up with pneumonia, he's been in and out of doc/hospital for x-rays & cat scans all week since coming back home. We'll call it "from Russia with Love," since this is where the virus/bacteria seems to have originated. Ugh.

5. I'd agree with the yellow-crowned night heron.
It's not real young, though, cuz they're speckled on the body.

I used to have a black-crowned that nested in the back by the river for a couple of years. I'd get up early in the morning to catch it fishing. The first time I saw it, it was off a ways, and I thought, "Penguin? What is a penguin doing here?" I'd never seen a b-c heron before LOL!

Here's a pic of one of those (not mine)...

Great picture! It's better than most of the ones I found on websites.

6. Hey jhain. That is certainly a yellow crowned night heron
And a nice image of one too athough I am pretty sure it is an adult. I finally got my first picture of one this past June down near Houston. They're here in my area of N. Texas but not as numerous.
