1. I'm sagging under a ton of work
but since I work from home, here goes:

A quick snap of fireworks from the front yard last spring (with streetlights & trees obscuring them)

4. wow
the clouds seem so low. Was it actually that way, or is it an illusion?

Until I met you here, I had no idea Alaska was so colorful!

8. No, the clouds were low.
The day we were in the park the weather wasn't too bad, but as we headed across the Denali Highway the next day, we got pretty socked in. Later after these shots it was a downpour. I still got some pretty good pictures through the rain -- I just haven't gotten to them yet for processing. I was glad I had my lens hoods. :)

12. I remember you saying the weather was going to be iffy
it looks like you did more than okay though.

The low clouds really give the photos atmosphere (pun intended).

5. Gorgeous, look at the color
I might take a trip to Eng, Austria this weekend to the Ahornboden. It's a valley of maple trees, one of the only areas with such a concentration of maples in Germany. If the weather cooperates, I hope the peak hasn't passed yet.

I really miss Vermont and New Hampshire right now. :(

18. That purple flower is just gorgeous!
What is it?

I had some other choices I was considering, too.
Kale

An aster with a bee or a wasp (?)

And my rump raspberry

19. I like the aster

It's a hoverfly btw. Bees and wasps have 2 sets of wings. In flies, the second set are reduced to drumstick-shaped halteres (stabilizers).

Bee mimics are really cool.
