Dog finds stick (alert - lots of pix for dialup)
Lucy the gentle pit bull has a calling to remove sticks and such from rivers and lakes. And then eat them. The vet is impressed by the absence of tarter build-up on the teeth, but

2. How cute

I love number 5 where she's looking at you like "A little help, please?" She really tore that log up.

I wish my dog liked water. She's terrified of it. She even runs out of the room when I do dishes or get in the shower. And don't even get me started on bath time...

9. After that pause in #5
she moved to the other side and began gnawing away until she could get a strong grip.

Loves the water. In a river that runs into the ocean there was a slow current in most of the river and a very fast current in the center. You could see the surprise and then she began swimming and going backwards and then started experimenting with it. You could see the cogs turning.

4. These are really great!
My daughter's pit did almost the same thing! Her Sammy Dog was also a sweet gentle pit and loved to play in rivers and chase sticks that were floating (although, I don't think he went after any this big!)

Hopefully she will post some pics of Sam in the water too!

11. The scans need adjusting.
Dog was backlighted by the sunset under a dark overcast sky and I either set a manual exposure and failed to adjust for the waning light or used auto-exposure. Scanner auto-exposure setting probably darkened them a bit more. I haven't yet tried to correct them.

7. That's so funny.
It reminds me of a dog I used to know in California who used to walk around with four or five big princkly pinecones in his mouth all the time. What are they thinking??

10. Indeed, what are they thinking?
Sensible things, like food and territory and the pack structure and its stability. Mapping out the world. I'm taking care of Lucy for a few days and she is clearly reminding me that the pack leader is missing and we that we should go fix that. She thinks puppies on animal planet need help but learned that pawing the TV does no good. She thinks it's responsible leadership to intervene when young dogs get a little too spirited in their mock combat play.

Most likely, she thinks we humans are a bit dense, fail to comprehend a lot, and have our priorities skewed.

8. Used to know a dog named Jaws
who could rip trees down with his mouth... sometimes took him all afternoon, but he was determined.

Dogs are great.
