Off topic, but: Anyone planning on going to DC for the inauguration? |

I don't mean you have tickets to THE event, necessarily, but going for the general festivities. If so, might you be interested in splitting the cost of a hotel room with me? Blue_in_AK and I roomed together at the last march I got to, for the war and Katrina in January 2006, so she can give a reference to my character and ability to share space well. :)
I went to both Bush inauguration protests. The first was a bleak cold, rainy day, and I was called a Sore/Loserman. I saw a coffin procession at the second. Went to DC a third time to march against the war and Katrina "relief", marched with thousands of people and saw a really, really pitiful Freeper rally of about 50. (That part was great.:)) Now I really want to be there for the celebration. And it would be fun to have a photo buddy to document the joy and celebration we would no doubt encounter in the streets--and at DU meet-up(s).
Any takers?

1. Goodness, No. I'd Freeze! |

But I have a request:
will you get a photo of a group of people getting photos, if you know what I mean? I'm starting to see more and more of this and it's such an interesting cultural phenomenon.

She is as fine and upstanding an individual as you'd ever want to meet. In fact, I would go so far as to say that I love her. I wish I could join you again, ITF, but with our Nome trip in March and probably a trip to CA in April for our physicals and the arrival of another new grandbaby, I don't see how I could justify the expense this time around, although it's tempting.

I love you, too! I figured you being able to come down would be pretty hard. :(
OTOH, new grandbaby!!! Which daughter? When she's due?

She's due in April, mid-month I think.

all the rooms are booked, with the cheapest going for $500 a night with a 4 night minimum. Ugh. Maybe some of the outlying areas are still possible.
I might go but it would be a day trip. I'd have to fly to NYC and stay with my son then take the train to DC for the day then take the train back to NYC. Kind of a long day. He's supposed to check on train tickets but I'll bet even those from NYC to CD are sold out now.
I'm reconsidering as it seems like it will turn into a logistical nightmare.
It would be fun to meet up with other DUers, though.
