Like a lot of others (Warning-heavy on pics)
I went out and took flower photos for the contest. I also had a very hard time deciding, then chose the one most different from all of mine and tried something new with a very late tulip that wasn't going to make it. That ended up being the one I entered. The others are here

A weed that may be transplanted and moved because I like it. they start out with a very light violet tint.

Weed again, with fly and all white. they are tiny flowers.

Strawflower

Tickseed

Mini Daisey

Orange flower (Gaillardia?)

Striped Gaillardia

Pastel Rain

Mums

It has been great watching what photos people took and going out and trying to take my own. I have also been playing catch up on the threads.

3. Thank you both.
That poor little tulip was only about 6 inches tall and very late to bloom.

4. Currently I'm experiencing "Flower Burn Out"
But when I get over it I want to try to take a flower snapshot all proper and everything.... like you've done an excellent job of.

BTW? Did you PS "White" or did you use a studio tent setup? I looked at the prices for the pro-stuff and have built my own in the basement using foam board, sheets, and 4 dollar hardware store clip on flood lights. Not "pro" quality, but it was very cheap and works for me.

Jus' askin.

6. TY and
I used white paper on the floor, natural light from my sliding glass doors (12 feet wide, 6 feet high). The paper was probably a good 6 feet long. I had foam core on the sides and even above. The flower was only about 6 inches tall the vase only about 4 inches tall. There is a deck over the sliding glass doors and a huge maple tree so the light there is always a bit diffused. (was a very bright sunny day out.) I am all digital so took lots of shots. Resized in PS and a bit of unsharp after it was resized. No water until after I took the pictures.

And yes all that pro stuff is pricey. A friend here has told me to rent different equipment before I buy anything. I keep hoping he will upgrade and want to get rid of his old stuff. But he has also helped me with lots of great ideas like the sliders etc for cheap equipment.

7. Very creative!!!
It looks like a pro studio shot. Well done.

I found this place that sells very inexpensive portable tents that can be used indoors and outdoors. I'm currently on Ms F's wireless so I don't have the link.... will try to remember tommorrow and post it.
