First photo with my new tripod bought on Craigslist -
went out in my yard and took this picture of daffodil leaves bearing wrapped gifts in the rain.

Oh, how lovely!

Please take another pic once they have bloomed, OK?

:pals:

I'm so glad you're posting over here, now!

3. Love it!
Seriously, I am *almost* getting excited about spring. I love everything about Craigslist, and your picture, but (semi-novice that I am) what was the shutter speed? Most likely I would have braced myself against a tree, if I didn't have a tripod.

Anyway, I am truly impressed by both the picture and the daffodil leaves.

Let me just leave you with what WE DEALT WITH TODAY. Remember I said the fruit trees were starting to blossom? LOL...........

4. My dear Celebration, as Peggy would say, you're in a spot of trouble if you have
this particular tree (bush) in bloom and snow is weighing it down. I looked where you are located, and you don't say.
I have one of those in the yard, I call it "Jesse" because I know nothing about such things, and planted it with my grandson Jesse when he was about 5.
Jesse is only 8 now, so my version is not only little, but also not in bloom yet. (NC)

About your question:
I put it on the tripod only because I now have one, and I wanted to test how this all works.
It was getting dark, I had affixed my new tripod inside the house since I needed to figure out how to do this. Then it needed protection from the rain whilst I carried the assemblage outside....so imagine my french leather Beret balanced over the camera and lens....

It made no difference in how I shoot photos, the camera is set for automatic, I turn it on and I pull the trigger.
I will learn about shutter speed and so forth soon though.

After all, I came here to learn, and you all have been kind.

Less tongue in cheek, I have leaned against my truck, namely a few days ago, to steady the camera when I was photographing a row of blue lights in the night, cops on a mission. The pictures were intended to go into a file named blue, after we got through with red.
Did not work, hence the tripod.

5. A beautiful, but sad, picture..
I know what will happen to the blossoms now but the image is really striking.

6. I'm perverse enough
To make it my "spring" picture. Let's see, entitled "The Groundhog saw his shadow this year."

9. I'm trying
I probably took over 200 pics last night. Maybe two of them are what I would call "decent". Despite that, I'm a lot further along than I would be if I hadn't looked in here and asked questions so it's been a big help. You've been especially helpful and I appreciate it. :fistbump:
