Okay gang, I think I've got all the bugs worked out of the contest files so I'm going to post the three contest threads in the Lounge around noon (ET) today. I'll post an announcement here when they are up.

The calla lilies from usedtobesick and smurfygirl's wedding bouquet. It's taking a long time to load smurfygirl's photo. About 5 minutes now on my wireless connection.

14. My hosting service apparently causes problems for some.

(Got your PM.) Some people see no image or only a partial one. Not sure why, but until I switch to another service it's just a fact of life on the net. I expect to get lots of votes from people who don't like looking at flower pics and appreciate the blank space.

22. Try deleting your browser's cache

I use Firefox. Evidently when it cache's an image and that image gets corrupted, it just quits when confronted with that image again.

Too bad the contest photos didn't end up being placed in groups in the order they were submitted.

29. I can't choose "the best" or vote in this kind of contest

Like trying to pick "the best" flower or waterfall. Lots of good photos, for sure.

As for order, presenting each voter with a random list would eliminate any grouping or order bias, whatever those might be, if real at all. I chose strict numerical order because it was easiest, not because it was best. Mixing them up in some is one way to partially randomize, if order is seen to be a potential problem.

And I'm glad you liked the photo.

Okay, what should we do? I suggest that First Lupine get a bye and be automatically included in the final run-off.

Or we could have a second round with the top three in each group and First Lupine, and then a final round with the top three going head-to-head.

Any other ideas???

30. Here's another suggestion:

Try right clicking and then selecting view image. Every once in a while when I have a stubborn image that brings it up.

(I just double checked the link using two different browsers, and it is active. It does seem to be causing problems though for some folks who viewed the entry thread in this forum during a few hours the morning after I posted it when my webserver went down and the link was broken - the browsers are apparently fixating on the briefly broken link they captured.)

Can you see it in your post here? :shrug: My photo, rather than the link, shows up in your post.

Have you tried an alternate browser (Mozilla, Internet Explorer, Netscape)? It is pulling it up for me in Mozilla (and the newer Firefox) and Internet Explorer.

Another thought, just so you might be able to see it, try copying the link into the URL line and inserting www. between http:// and Puppycharm.com.

I somehow duplicated one of the pictures. Don't know how it happened because I spent quite a bit of time double checking the files the night before. I'll make sure the missing photo gets in the next round somehow.
