Poll question: Help me choose a sunset pic for my final photography project please.
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 04:15 PM by free_spirit82
I have to blow one of these up to 8x10 and send it off by July 1st, but I am having a hard time choosing. Please help!

Picture 1-Dark Clouds

Picture 2-Blues

1. At first glance I preferred #1 but on looking a bit more...
If you crop off a little of the top and left of # 2, it doesn't have a lot of dead space like the dark area of # 1. If Photoshop is allowed in your project, I'd ramp up the reds a bit in the bottom area and in the clouds to get more color contrast and maybe increase the light/dark contrast in the sky area too.

If there's more actual information in the dark area of # 1 that you could bring out with Photoshop, I might go back to preferring it.

Either pic might be fun to experiment with some bizarre color and contrast manipulations, but that's probably not within the scope of your project.

I hope my comments aren't against the rules in this group. I just found it for the first time.

2. I chose 1 because I like ghost clouds.

3. I went with 2
but both are admirable.

#1 is kind of Christian-esqe... not that that is a bad thing

#2 has some interesting things going on at the bottom

both need serious cropping

4. Here's what I've done so far....

I cropped both pictures. With Picture 1, I took about an inch off the right wide and one/half inch off the bottom. With Picture 2, I took about an inch and a half off the left side and about an inch off the top. I'm not allowed to photoshop these, but I probably will fool around with them afterwards for my own album.

Clouds in Twilight (Before cropping)

Blues (Before cropping)

Clouds in Twilight (After cropping)

Blues (After cropping)

I really appreciate all of your suggestions! Please keep them coming!

Edited to add: when I replaced the old ones with the cropped ones in my photobucket account, it changed the pictures in the original posts also. SO I added the before-pics in this post.
