Butterfly and zinnias
NOT in my garden, unfortunately, but outside Atlanta in Rutledge, GA. They have 15 acres of sunflowers and tons of other flowers.

You got the depth of field dialed in just right. How do you like the D300?

6. Ha, ha. This is my cue to stop being so happy about so many beautiful photographs.
Well. Alright. Then.
But everything I said about your butterfly still stands.

3. yummy and scrumptious
I love the combination of colors in this--so vibrant! I'm not all that much into minimalism--this truly awakens the senses.

4. Thank you all. I love the Nikon D300 but...
There is still so much to learn. I have been 'bracketing' and shooting in RAW and this one was 1/3 stop underexposed and then just clarified and sharpened up a bit in Photoshop.

7. I hear wonderful things about the D300
I shoot Canon myself, but that's just my investment, I don't get religious about it like some do. From what I've heard, the D300 has the bragging rights in its class right now, and I hope you enjoy it. I was trying 1/3 stop underexposure for awhile, but I've read conflicting opinions that advise overcompensating instead (which I had always understood to be a cardinal sin). I switched back to 0 exposure compensation, and with RAW files, there's a lot more latitude for that sort of thing.

Have you tried Lightroom yet? I've largely replaced Photoshop with Lightroom for workflow purposes. I'm not an Adobe salesman and I have no affiliation with them, but it's an amazing application, and is very capable when it comes to batch changes (a particular white balance for these 30 shots, a particular exposure compensation for these 5 shots, and a particular crop for these 3 bracketed pictures, and so on). I only occasionally open Photoshop now for specialty tasks.

Once more, it's a beautiful picture. Enjoy the camera.
