~~~~July's Photo Contest Theme~~~~
"A Shot Taken in Your Yard (Or What Counts as Your Yard)"
We will be pretty liberal with how the word "yard" is defined.
Deck, dock, patio, porch, stoop, step, balcony, alley, park whatever. If it is your "yard" then it qualifies. We know we can trust all of you to be honest.
Submissions: July 19 5pm until 30 are posted or 5pm on the 23th.
Preliminaries: July 23 5:30pm - July 26 5pm
Finals: Finals: July 26 5:30pm - July 29 5pm
All times CDST
1. If you can finish the submissions at 5 pm
and post the preliminaries at 5:30 same evening
I will not only send you a case of champagne, I will vote for you for President, should you run.
Itchinjim must be magic.
2. Since both of my
'yards' are rather unkempt and boring I will go for being creative with my shot rather than trying to find something that is stand alone interesting.
I can walk 50 ft and have a spectacular shot of the San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset but it isn't my yard. MY yard is weeds, a wood pile, a lemon tree and an occasional deer (if I'm lucky). My vacation house isn't much different.
So how to make that woodpile interesting... This will be a good challenge as I will need to think outside the box to have something worth entering.
Mz Pip
3. I'm going with the mobile home at the boat dock
And the common area we share--
If I didn't do that, it would be my choice of squirrel pictures, LOL.
Some people might use this opportunity to use a macro picture.
In any case, I would love to see some of your pictures of SF Bay!!
8. Nothing in my yard readily recommends itself
I'm thinking of hiring models to come stand in my yard. ;)
4. This time I may have to do a poll
(covering my face with my hands)
I work out of my house, and sometimes stepping outside with the camera is needed to clear my head.
I have done this for about 30 years in this location.
Just rambling.....
5. Does this have to be a photo taken specifically for this contest or
can it be an old photo from our cache?
10. We've always allowed old photos before.
I don't see why this contest should be any different, but that's up to the host.
12. ok....I did not know if that was standard. I wanted to make sure
because of the different seasons.....although there is beauty to be found in all of them, it might make a difference in which photo I decide to enter. Thanks :)
13. New photo, old photo, as long as it is a shot of your "yard" taken by you..
then you can submit it.
I was thinking that the picture had to be something was was actually in my yard. I do have some decent 'sunrise over the Berkeley Hills' pictures that I took from my balcony.
21. Andrew Sullivan's site has a "view from your window" image every day or so.
You need to have a bit of your window frame in the picture, and a brief description about the image.
