Light Painting & Long Exposure
I went to a Light Painting & Long Exposure class last night and now I'm hooked.

I can't believe the amount of light and control you can get out of using a single Maglight that I moved around the model. The picture below was taken in a pitch black room and was a 60 second exposure @F8

This one was taken about 10PM outside in a parking lot 20 seconds @F8

2. Yes it is
Those were the first couple that I did and I'm so hooked, this is photographic crack.

So basically I spent today picking up a Maglight assortment and some gels and a couple of halogen spotlights.

this is the site of the guy who taught the class

3. Your first pic is just
stunning and I've always been a sucker for outdoor night scenes.

Maybe I too will have to do some experimentation.

4. Thanks
As I look at the, especially the second one, I absolutely know what I would have done to improve that shot and I guess that's what I discovered I liked about this type of shooting, you have a lot of time to manipulate the scene and really make the picture.

7. Did you drug the model? ;)
It's amazing that she was able to sit that still for a 60-second exposure. Really nice pictures, by the way, and you've given me an idea. My oldest son is into...not sure what you call it, but techno/trance music with glow sticks and hand movements/dancing kinds of things. Maybe I'll give this a try.

8. No drugs were needed and no models were harmed in the course of the shoot
She only had to stay still during the time I was actually lighting her otherwise she was free to move. During the time I was lighting her I was actually standing in the shot in front of the stool, actually I pretty much moved around the set through the entire exposure.
