Need help deciding...
I need some help to decide my entry for the contest. Any input is appreciated.

1. well
Prayer from above has a sort of surreal quality, which I like, but it also looks more like a painting. Plus I am not sure DU would go in for the subject matter. I actually had that issue with the Buddha I posted, but went for it anyway. I consider it the riskier choice.

I like the tower too. But I would prefer to see some edge between the tower and the night sky. I can't see it on my computer. Of course it would be great to have the full moon in the background, LOL.

3. Hmm...
I hadn't thought about the religious aspect. (I'm pretty far from religious myself so sometimes I forget how controversial it can be sometimes, even with some seemingly innocuous things.) As for it looking like a painting, I think that effect is in large part due to the chicken wire they've put in front of it, presumably to keep the birds out. The wire seems to give an impression of flatness.

If I have time after work, I'll probably try to get a late twilight shot of the tower to get some sky/edge separation. I definitely want to keep the illumination of the tower pretty much the same.

6. Thanks
Thanks for giving me the push to go out there and do redo the shots. I'm definitely happier with the new shot. I spent about an hour after sunset taking shots and playing with various settings. Here are a couple shots I didn't use from just after sunset and about half an hour after that. I pondered whether to use the second one instead but went with the night shot because it had more of an air of mystery and I liked the contrasts more. I don't know if you're familiar with it but this is the Vancouver Lookout at Harbour Centre (Vancouver, BC, Canada). The top ring of the "saucer" is a revolving restaurant and the bottom ring is an observation deck. You can actually see the silhouette of a few people in the bottom photo.

2. I'm not going to be much help.
I like them both. Maybe the tower for the reasons mentioned above.

4. Both are great!
But I prefer the tower at midnight...not because of religious reasons, but because I consider it to be more stunning...

I love the contrasting light and dark, and the shape of it...

:hi:
