You've probably been asking yourselves...
"I wonder what the world's largest cabbage ever looks like." Well, wonder no longer, my friends. Feast your eyes on this giant coleslaw. It weighs 125.9 pounds, with a head measuring 21 inches across and leaf span of about five feet. It holds the Guinness world record. http://www.adn.com/front/story/920747.html

Here are the world record-setting rutabagas mentioned in the news article. Also a very large beet weighing 24.385 pounds.

A little whimsy

2. Amazingly,
the same grower brought in a cabbage yesterday that at 127 pounds broke even this record. It didn't have as big a head as this one, but had several smaller heads around the main one that boosted its weight. Here are photos from the newspaper.

4. Special seeds and lots of TLC.
They tend to them like they're babies, just the right amount of water and fertilizer. One grower even rigged up water-cooled fans for his cabbages so they wouldn't get too warm on hot days. I think it's really quite an art, and, of course, the 20 hours of sunlight per day at the beginning of summer doesn't hurt.
