Hammocks
There is a place called Crane Museum in Marathon, in the Keys.

At the entrance they keep talking about "Hammocks" and they mean something like natures untouched tropical vines and habitats.
I kept trying to explain the term "hammock" vs. that particular  interpretation to my Mom and adopted sister.

This is a very untended natural habitat, and surprisingly we ran across a "hammock" in the wanderings with lots of crap that had fallen into it and after laughing and saying : "See, here's a real hammock" I walked off.

Little did I know how quickly sister cleaned it out and re-filled it.

2. Texture, composition, color, depth of field ... excellent work!
Every once in a while, a photo like this on DU seems to stand out, imho. From my rather amateurish perspective, all the characteristics of "art" are present. Very, very good.

3. I'm blushing. I just got home from a day in the skies which I enjoyed since I love
to travel.
Now I unpack, which I hate.
It buoys my step to have such praise for my little picture. She did not know I took it until I showed her this thread on DU before she got on the plane to accompany Mom back to Frankfurt.
She laughed very happily, she rightfully thinks she has great legs.

5. Yes, her legs are lovely ... and they're perfect in the senses I identified above.

They add a necessary element of texture, color, and composition that (IMHO) helps elevate this from a mere snapshot to what I'd say is art.

That ONLY her legs are really visible is perfect (imho), as is the fact she's wearing footwear. I just couldn't find fault with that photo at all ... and I'm usually someone who easily finds faults. :silly:

Further ... there's a "mood" to the photo that's not your trite 'lazy summer day' mood ... and I'd be at a loss to describe the mood any better. It's (in a sense) 'edgy' and complex. It's really not a simple photo, imho, and has a feel and mood that's quite unique. The lighting couldn't be better if an art director (and crew) did it. It's bright EXACTLY where it needs to be ... on her legs. At the same time, the light is nearly-but-not-quite flat -- giving it almost a "museum of natural history" (diorama) quality. Remarkable, really.

6. This settles it!
From now on I'll come grovelling for your opinion on a photo when I get stuck on what to put into a contest... or if I think it's nice and don't know why.

Thank you again very much for liking it that much, and for explaining to me why.

4. That is a great shot!
Very interesting picture. The legs make me want to see who owns them. I can appreciate her relaxation, as I share her view. You really did good with this one!:hi:
