At a falconry centre
Last Sunday I went to a "flight show" at a falconry centre (not sure what the correct English word is for the show). Here are some of the pictures I took. Please please please comment, give me hints what to do better.

The falconer

A vulture landing

The vulture starting

The vulture walking

I think that was the buzzard

Eating the prey

Landing

Catching the prey in the air

A kid holding a falcon, not sure he can trust the bird.

Another kid holding an owl

A close-up from the owl

Bathing time

3. WOW - you were into it MissHoneychurch. A true adventure to take part in and
chronicle.
You're showing me something I probably would never have seen otherwise. The bird in the third from the bottom, and also the second from the bottom: Fascinating. Thethird from the bottom is also comical with the girl's hair behind the head of the bird.
I like the one of the man looking after the bird he just let go.
How to make them better? Maybe in cropping them a little differently, but then I'm into looking at crops right now, it could be me. Or you worked what you got, sometimes I have an image and say: Oh I wish there were a little more there on the left...right..bottom.

The more I scroll down them the more phantastical they get, so medieval.

4. Thank you Mira
I am faszinated by such shows. Now that I know that there is one near by I think I will go back. I am so glad I took my camera with me. I have some pictures that definitely need to be cropped. Especially the ones that have the people standing there looking at the bird flying. I will do that later on. Maybe post some more pics then.
It was very hard to take a picture while the birds were flying. Damn they are fast. And big

5. Love it all!!
Thanks for the adventure. I remember being thrilled going to a falcon show at the San Diego zoo. It is definitely something I want to do again.

What I remember about it is how close the falconers are to the falcons. There seemed to be such a bond between them.

6. Thank you
Yes, there was a bond between the falconer and the birds. Some were very excited when he came by and talked to them. You could tell they wanted to fly and "play". The falconer told us that they don't play but that they catch their prey during those shows. Once they had enough food, there is no chance that they fly anymore. And that as deep as the bond is they are still wild animals.

7. I meant to say that too, and forgot,
that it must be really tricky to catch and frame a flying huge bird.
Great work, and I hope to see more.
English lesson from one German to another:
it's "fascinated".
I love it when you make a little mistake. Like once a year.

8. That vulture
had a wing span of 2,80m (over 9ft). Get that on your camera

Yep, I need to use the "Check Spelling" button more often :D

9. Whaaaat? 9 feet - that makes me crazy. I would have been
truly scared to be near it. Now I have to look again with this in mind.

10. Here I caught the whole vulture
It was a bit intimidating standing right next to that thing he landed on. But also breathtaking.

11. Um Gottes Willen - Heaven help us. This terrifies me.
Breathtaking in that you hold it so he won't hear you and carry you off.
You are my new hero to have gotten so close.

12. Wow!
What great photgraphs. I especially like the owl photos, just because I have a thing for owls. The vulture pics are really really amazing.

Usually they call those centers "Raptor Centers" here in the states.
