What is this??
Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 07:04 AM by MissHoneychurch
This is a view from my bedroom window a couple of nights ago. The funny thing is that I didn't see the "reflection" on the left side. Is it really a reflection and how in the world did it get in my picture?????

1. did you shoot this through glass?
if so it is the moon reflecting off the front element of your lens, notice the angle and the aspect of it.

5. My dear Miss Honeychurch - how far is Frankfurt from Amsterdam?
Have you seen what Trusty Elf can do in Photoshop?
He steals people's photos and returns them with flying saucers in the sky.
I'm series.

6. With the train (ICE) about 4 hours
No, I haven't seen that. I guess I need to search for it.

7. I posted a photo of the famous "delicate arch" in Utah.
Next time I looked he had stolen it, turned it into the McDonald's arches, and re-posted it.
He is very clever and very funny and very sneaky.
(but you know of course I'm just clowning around)

I would give a lot to get on the ICE train in Frankfurt, and travel to Amsterdam.
When I think of German trains, I remember my last trip. The conductor came on the intercom and said: "Ladies and Gentlemen we are a minute and a half behind schedule, but we are doing our best to make it up before we pull into the station."
And, of course, they did.

I wish we had trains here.

8. When was that with the train?
by now they often are late without saying much.

That is funny what he did with that picture. I haven't had much interaction with Trusty Elf yet.

9. Time frame: Last September, so it's been a year.
Well, you remember from being in the US how much we need trains, so I would not mind if they are running late sometimes, if they just run.
But then, you've had strikes over the last year...

10. Ah yes
and we will have strikes again ... every time to employees demand a fair salary and the companies don't want to pay that. And all on the back of the customers. But last year it was getting ridiculous.

11. It appears to me to be a giant cat peering at you through the foggy night air...
And it also has the look of one demanding FOOD. :D

12. It is definitely a reflection off glass.
Did you have a UV filter or other "protection" filter on the lens?

13. That's likely internal reflection within the lens
which if I understand it right, can occur between the front and rear elements of the lens under certain conditions. What those conditions are, I don't know.

14. Happened to me too
I've noticed that on some of my shots. I even tried taking off the UV filter I had on and it didn't help. I'm not sure of the conditions either but I've only seen it when shooting at night or twilight.
