Redneck Riviera in the Off Season--Part I dial up warning
Edited on Wed Sep-30-09 02:32 PM by Celebration
Can you guys stand another beach vacation? Redneck Riviera is the gulf coast from Mississippi through the Florida panhandle, so named because it is less than a day's drive from Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, and of course Florida.

The "season" for the Redneck Riviera is summer, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and spring break. That's it. It's not really warm enough in the winter to compete with more tropical areas, and this is mostly a family vacation area. To get here by car you have to negotiate two lane roads, and passing trucks like this, with a circus in the back.

So, some of these back roads have undergone a beautification--

Some have bicycle paths

Two lane roads are a bit more interesting than the interstate

Boardwalk to the beach

Redneck Riviera has several skylines

It is known for immaculate, white and silver sand beaches

that look like this in the off season

and crystal clear water

But, in the off season, in Redneck Riviera, you can still sometimes meet a new friend

Beautiful weather here. There may or may not be a Part 2 when I get back home.

1. No need to tell you just how much I love a tale with some
meat to it. Great job taking me there, Celebration. Ans as always your bird shots shine the brightest, but I LOVE
the kids shot.

Thank you!

3. So get this
Literally the only other people hanging out on the beach this week is this adorable girl and her parents--the girl is almost the exact same age as our grandson. Other than that I have seen maybe four or five joggers, and a couple of people walking. Only one other time was a couple briefly sitting under an umbrella. Best of all--no wait at the restaurants!

2. the 3rd and 4th shots, of the empty roads and great light..
that is HOME...it says everything about what "here" is like.

Yep, the tourists are gone and the snow birds have not yet arrived and we can enjoy the beaches for awhile.

Nicely done, thank you for the journey and saving me the driving this week.

:hi:

4. So, are you from LA?
Lower Alabama?

 I bet most people haven't even heard of the LA/lower Alabama thing.

Most (but not all) people going to Redneck Riviera pass through LA, at one point or another.
