3. You outed me.
I was, 10X. However I was about 3 feet from the tracks at a city crossing. I stayed where I was and took more pictures as the train was passing. I figured I was safe because I was leaning against a metal post for that shot.

2. You and..... RetroLounge
That's a very kewl perspective. Makes me a little nervous just looking at it.
:scared:

Someone suggested "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" one month. Would be a good theme. IMO

8. Like the idea.
I am still rummaging through my old photos. It is a process destined for years of cataloging.

I like the amplified "Planes and automobiles" included...I am sure I can find something.

4. Scary!
It reminds me of that scene in Stand By Me where they're running on the bridge and the train is only a few feet behind them. :yoiks: Great shot! I love the idea of a train theme. We have a pretty big trainyard near my house, so I wouldn't have too hard of a time getting some shots.

5. Sadly we just had an incident here
where a 13-year-old boy and his friend in Wasilla north of here fell asleep (!) on the railroad tracks after a day of fishing. The friend heard the whistle and got off the track just in time with minor injuries, but the other boy was run over and killed. The engineer had tried to stop but was unable to. The train crew is in shock and are being counseled.

9. That movie is one of my all time favorites. The music is great.
I have a train track about 1.5 miles away, down the valley, and still the most soulful sound is a train blasting its horn in the stillness of the night. Many times I have been outside at around 2 a.m. and there is something about that sound that shakes out all the deserted feelings of the soul.

11. It's one of my favorites, too.
And the short story it's based on is great, too. It's by Stephen King, but I can't remember the title.

15. "The Body" I think.
It's a classic -- the birth of some excellent actors.

16. That's right, 'The Body'.
What ever happened to the kid that played Gordy in that movie, and Wesley in Star Trek: TNG?

10. I'd love to do a "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" contest some month.
I have a special fascination with trains, and there are a few train museums fairly close by. I also have some neat photos I shot years ago at a classic car show. I think it'd be a challenging contest--much more so than flowers. :)

Love your train shot, btw. Aside from the heart-stopping framing, it looks like a two-headed man is engineering it. Creepy... but cool!

13. I have a shot of a train going by that made it into the local museum's
permanent collection. I never thought it was anything special, but I guess others did
