Post your Christmas lights pictures here
It looks like night scenes will be the December theme. While you are out looking for that special image, see if you can snag a few Christmas lights images then post them here.

Kitch is cool.

26. That reminds me so much of the trees of my childhood...
...back in the early '60s. Partly because of the colored lights (my family went to all-white when we got back from Europe, and never used colored lights on the tree again), and partly because of all the tinsel, glass ornaments, and other pretty and very fragile things we could never have nowadays in my grown-up, three-cat home!

14. More lights, just for the heck of it
The depth of field is pretty shallow in all of these, they were taken with a legacy OM mount Vivitar 70-300mm, a legacy OM mount Telesor MC auto 2x converter and a 4/3 sensor, for a 35mm equiv of 1200mm (I was out to play around with some astrophotography and decided to catch some nearby lights too).
Neighbor's lights, taken at 1200mm equiv

Stars!

22. This was my alternate for the contest

This wasn't really shooting in the dark but towards the dark; I was in the extremely well lit (and warm and dry) Time Warner Center. The lights change color (by sections or completely) in time to Christmas music. So, very corporate but very pretty. Outside is the traffic in Columbus Circle and the Holiday Market (crafts and small businesses) across the street.

23. Crazy house...
Edited on Sun Dec-13-09 07:00 PM by HappyCynic
Back in the Halloween thread, I posted photos of a house that went all-out in the decorations and promised to post photos of the same house with their Christmas set-up.

... Just kidding. This is definitely not the house. A fair number of decorations. But not the house.

THIS is the house:
A far shot to get an full image.

A closer shot of the side. Note the carousel is motorized so the figures inside go round and round.

A closer shot of the front yard so you can have an idea of the number of decorations.

The smaller section of the yard.

The main portion of the yard. (The three figures in the window are motorized and turn left and right.)

Here's a close-up of one of the signs (cropped from the large image so it's a bit grainy).

And on the porch.

Please excuse the slight graininess of the shots. I took these with the WX1 in Twilight mode so it upped the ISO.

Cool gingerbread train!

It is a kid's dream to have parents who would do this. I just put a tree in the front window, some wreaths on the door, and that's about it. Pretty boring.

36. From our celebration in Pt.Townsend, WA

In the background is Admiralty Inlet. The tree sits atop a an old glassed-in display case; inside the case, my sister placed white fabric over colored lights, showcasing blown glass carollers and a glass tree surrounded by reindeer. Pretty effect!
