Bloedel Conservatory - Part 2 - Birds
Inside the Bloedel Conservatory are quite a few birds and plants. It was a cloudy day outside so lighting wasn't great. As a result, I wasn't able to get too many good shots. A lot of the birds were too small and fast to get a good photo of. Hopefully, if I go back when it's sunny, the lighting will be a lot better and I'll be able to get better shots. Here are some shots that did turn out - four shots of birds and a shot of a statue.

Here are four different birds:

And a somewhat interesting statue. I forgot to look at the info on it so I have no idea what, if anything, it's commemorating. I'll have to make a point of checking next time I'm there.

1. I like both of these threads very much.
They tell a great story, and the photo of the statue is so warm and mystical.
"Bloedel"
German word for "Dummy", as in Village idiot stupid.

2. That has reminded me.
When I was in college, I was doing an art history paper on Art Nouveau and much of what was in the library was in German. Fortunately, there was a German exchange student on my floor and I showed her a word I couldn't find in the dictionary describing something in a picture with Cupid in it. She said the word translated as either quiver or golf bag. We had a good laugh imagining Cupid with a golf bag.

3. hmm..
If that's the translation, then I feel sorry for Prentice Bloedel, the person the Conservatory was named after. (A donation from him made the construction of the conservatory in 1969 possible.)

4. Hey- it was just an aside - but yes, it is not something I would appreciate being called.
though it does not mean it has not happened.

5. Statue
I'll definitely have to look up the info for the statue next time I'm there. It's the only one in there (as far as I could see). It was actually a bit odd seeing it there. It's pretty much in its own little mini-clearing and it's not part of a fountain or anything. It's just there. I definitely like the artistry of the the statue - I don't know if my photo really does it justice. Maybe I'll go back this weekend or the next.

6. The second works really well for me because of the light.
It's lit for the drama of the colors. It's very musical.

But the one I like most is the fourth, which is a character study, like any insightful portrait. That's a photograph to treasure. Fine work.
