White Christmas in Southern Texas
ok, so it's not snow, but it was still blowing white stuff (Heavy winds in Corpus Christi on the 24th, so I visited the beach - with my dSLR in a condom (rainsleeve) I can assure you :) )

1. Wow! Looks like you took your life in your hands with those shots!
Have you ever considered working for the Westher Channel?

Great stuff, these! The first one is so dramatic, it literally took my breath away for a second. I really love the third one, too, though I wish it had a tad more blue along the top. Still, great photos!

2. Thank you. Hey, now there's a thought - I love heading out with
the camera in inclement weather, why not get paid for it? Nah.... then it would seem more like a requirement than fun.

It was interesting. For a while, I was wishing thar I'd brought the goggles from my scooter.

3. These are amazing, qnr! That second one..wow...
any sand in the car when you got back in? :D

How long were you able to stay out in it? And how much cleaning did your camera require, or dd the "condom" do it's job?

5. Thanks - there was a little sand in the car. Not surprising since I haven't had
a window for a few years. I use a piece of Lexan that I've cut to fit the window, and keep in place with plastic shims/wedges.

I actually stayed out for about three hours, There is a sea wall a little further down, with condos and hotels - that did away with most of the blowing sand, so it was mostly the wind for about half the time.

The camera didn't require much, the rainsleeve did a great job. At one point, I put the camera almost at ground level and turned to face the sand to get a photo. I was using a 70-300mm and it has a big hood. The hood collected about five tablespoons of of blown sand in a matter of seconds.
