San Diego / La Jolla pics... (dialup warning)

Tree roots at Balboa Park -- I liked this one in B&W:

1. Yes, B&W works well with that one. I've always thought of sea lions and seals
as 'giant slugs' (but in a nice way). Fascinating erosion in the rock with the brown pelicans.

Great photographs, thanks!

3. There is an undeniable resemblance to giant slugs...
...at least from a distance, I have to agree!

Glad you enjoyed the pics.

2. Thanks.. I grew up (if you can call it that)
a stone's throw from Balboa Park, and a few years on Coronado, before the bridge... have not been back in years and years

guess I will have to make a pilgrimage sooner or later

4. It's the ocean that draws me...
...into San Diego and La Jolla, no doubt about it. La Jolla Cove and Mission Beach are two of my favorite places -- La Jolla Cove was the first place I ever went where the ocean water was warm enough to swim in (the water around S.F. Bay, not so much...).

6. these are my stompin' grounds...
...when I'm on the other side of the tracks that is!! Nice photos! Next time you're in town check out Sunset Cliffs and the hang-glider port at Torrey Pines (if I get a chance I'll take some pictures there and post them).
