1. I absolutely love
what you've done with that first shot. Looks like it could be a book cover photo. :hi:

2. Fascinating shots.
There's a comforting suggestion of home and hearth, but also a sense of eeriness. You mentioned in another post about feeling your shots seem contrived. I simply don't agree. These are deeply expressive and evocative.

5. Thankyou, Jeff. I've passed these buildings many times
and they have a character about them that is photogenic at just about any time of day.

9. I'd love to see them in daylight just for comparison's sake
but I can't imagine they could be more compelling than in these night shots.

10. They call to me for a lot of different reasons
Edited on Thu Dec-31-09 03:25 PM by Adsos Letter
These are old Army buildings from earlier days. They are of the same type still common on military bases when I was a soldier; I joined when I was 17, so there are some emotions and such which are sparked when I see these old buildings.

Plus, there are some interesting aspects of color and texture against their immediate background, especially on an overcast day.

I'll be back out there in a few days, so I'll be sure to take some shots.

Happy New Years Eve, Jeff. :hi:

4. Thanks, Blue; I'm trying! Starting to realize the difference the size of light sensors makes.

7. Isn't it true that you get those
if you use a very small f/stop, like f/22 or something, and a longer exposure? I remember reading something about that in an Outdoor Photographer.

8. Tru be that; I was shooting with settings between f/5.6 and f/8

with different shutter speeds; a couple of the headlight/taillight shots were 15 second exposures.

Edit: f/8 is the smallest this camera does.
