1. Glorious winter shot right there.
I never see finches with that coloring here. It's very pretty, and it really features nicely against the tapestry of bare branches.

And you reminded me I have some windows to wash...

2. This window has a leak in the seal, so the "dirt" is inside.
I took 35 images of birds today. I will look through them later.

4. Finches are pretty AND they can sing
A double bonus. I see you are feeding them the good stuff. They must love it there.

5. We had a Red belly Sapsucker a short time ago. We also have some Song
Sparrows, occasional Fox Sparrows, White Throated Sparrows, Slate Colored Juncos, Chickadee, Carolina Wrens, Downy and the ubiquitous Cardinals, and Blue Jays. That's a partial list of birds in our yard.

6. That's quite the menagerie
I don't have a feeder right now, but we used to be visited by most of those (or their northern cousins). Except there aren't any Cardinals here. We also got flickers and nuthatches. The flickers figured out that tapping the metal parts of chimneys made a sound that carried farther than tapping wood. Neighbours kept phoning the gas company to complain that the pipes were ticking, until we figured out it was the birds messing with us.

7. Oh, yeah, I love Flickers. We have occasional visits by Yellow Shafted Flickers.
The Rosy Grosbeak, and Rufous Sided Towhee are my faves of the larger birds that have visited. I haven't been very good at ID ing the warblers in the woods behind us. Every year or so a Tufted Titmouse and Brown Thrashers drop by.
