Taking the plunge...

We're back from Seward with about a thousand pictures, but for now, here's one. About 150 people participated in the Polar Bear Plunge, earning about $100,000 in pledges which benefit cancer research. The air temperature was probably about 30 degrees with a good breeze. The water probably wasn't much warmer. Brave, brave souls...

2. There were several divers in the water

and EMTs on the dock. It's very, very cold. They don't want anyone stroking out on them, it would kind of spoil the fun. One of the jumpers told my husband that the water itself wasn't too awful, but the wind when they got out was pretty brutal.
