Remember the last time we Southerners had snow - and the wreck on my hill?

This is what's going on right now,, at midnight sharp a guy (who is perfectly fine and unhurt) first hit one of my trees and drove a big hole into my fence, and then hit a second tree. As I saw he was alone and OK, and watched him from my top floor looking down as he was jerking on the car door I got the impression he wanted to bolt but could not make the truck go.
I called 911 and said someone hit my house. That's how loud the impact was.

His truck is totaled, says one of the cops.
Nice guy, turns out I have made a sign for his restaurant. He says he is a Californian and can't drive on snow. I say I heard him drive too fast before I heard the impact.

1. You yard has way too much in

common with mine, get insurance info and get them to pay for that fence. Customer or not.

As for going too fast, maybe, maybe not. I got this long lecture on physics and out of control cars from an accident investigator. This was after one took out the power pole from the house side. That one did the worse damage of any so far and I couldn't understand how it went through the way it did. Seems it went air born, turn and hit the pole. Once traction was lost the car speed up. Course driving in that at all when you can't would be going to fast. I don't drive in snow if at all possible and I make it possible all the time.

but the fence. Honestly if I had to drive today I would probably end up the same way. I'm hanging out at home again.

Yup, I agree, his insurance needs to fix your fence.

Think there will be any hassle about him paying for the damage?

Wonder where in Ca. he is from.
Not all of the state is snow free, many people there
have experience ( maybe not good ability ) to drive in snow.

4. I was up til two, what with

cop cars and Wrecker getting loaded etc. - I'm not worried about the fence getting fixed. The cops gave me the name of the insurance company and the guy also assured me.
I have not bothered to wade through the snow yet to look at the damage up close. But I'll be out shooting some photos for the contest and then I'll study it, I'm hoping the sun will show up for better pictures.
