Quick snaps outside this morning.
Went out to tend to the chickens and found some interesting shots. Not great but...

The garden and hen house:

The old shed out back left by the people who last owned the property:

The trees along the creek bed:

One of my clothes lines:

1. Hold on to the clothes line shot - the winter contest is upon us in a few minutes.
Where, hippywife, is the dog food stealing turtle, I wonder.

2. I'm sure that turtle
is tucked away for the winter, Mira. LOL

None of those shots are very contest worthy. But I do have one for the still life contest I want to enter. It's not a new one, but it is one I find rather aesthetically appealing.

Hope you're staying warm, too, hon. :hi:

3. LOL, the clothes line
Honestly, so few city folk have these things that they are a real novelty anyway. Love the ice on it. I hope you have another way to dry your clothes!

4. Yeah, we do.
We hang them inside all over the bathroom and guest bedroom. We're about 3 years now without a dryer and it works well. Keeps the electric bill down. The only things I can't wash on weekends like this are sheets and towels, but we have plenty so no big deal.

7. It's not really.
It's 26 degrees but the wind isn't blowing which makes a huge difference. I can tolerate about any temp as long as it ain't blowing, too.

13. Oh, how I wish I lived in Hawaii
It's my dream to live somewhere tropical.

Unfortunately, I'm in N. Texas. So, we're neighbors! :hi:

18. She was very happy.
Just before I snapped that she was jumping up and down, and running around. Why would you not blame her if she were not happy?

20. I always make the mistake of assuming all living creatures
hate winter as much as I do. Misery loving company, and all that.

22. Well, even tho the temps were low
the air was dry and the wind wasn't blowing so it was quite nice out. It was in the 20's and I was out in just my clothes with no coat or gloves or anything. Very tolerable.

She was dumped out her about 8 years ago and is terrified of coming in the house. She just won't do it no matter what. We have to pick her up and then all she does is stay by the door, circling and whining. That's why her house has so much protection and is right in front of our house by a just a few feet. Rather than have her in the house and unhappy we just made it so she's as warm and comfy as possible.

30. I've heard about dogs who have an aversion like that.
We had a cat who behaved similarly.

10. The clothesline is terrific....
.........great depth of field on the closeup, wonderfully composed.................it grabs your attention and then compels your eye to run all the way down that cold frozen rope, to explore the rest of the shot. Really great shot.

how about two clotheslines?

Really, it's so ugly here in the winter, the snow is a welcome change of scenery.
