A walk through a snowed in Southern Neighborhood - looking decidedly different
Edited on Sat Jan-30-10 07:23 PM by Mira
In 30+ years of living here only once before were the streets turned over to sleds and skiing.
Here in my front yard, proof that it really snowed in Camel City

The street by my house with a brave cyclist, my house on the right facing the corner

Happy surprised families

Southern genteel homes the snow

No sitting with Mint Juleps in the yard

Three cardinals waiting to get to the feeder

this neighbor usually drives on this road, his skis are hidden in the powder snow

Strange looking parked cars

A nice pooch, snow around his surprised mouth

These are just simple shots to celebrate the unusual happening of a serious snowfall in a Southern town that goes through many winters with no snow, at most an ice storm.

Once you get the feel for what I'm trying to show, I might post a few more tomorrow.

2. Those are great, Mira.
You guys got as much as we did. Those kids look like they are having a blast. And that house is beautiful. It looks so natural for it to be adorned in snow. :)

4. YOUR snow blew over me, heading your way.
I am too far south to have gotten it ( tho it is 32 as I type...quell surprise)
so I thank you for the pictures of my "what could have been".
I am so spoiled that I would much rather look at the pics than see it in my yard.

5. Very good. No snow shots for me. The back door is frozen
shut and there is a snow drift blocking the door. Screw it, I have four alarm chili and beer to keep me occupied.

10. Hell yes. I have decided that Schlafly Centennial ESB is the perfect beer.
But I might be wrong, Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald could be the one, or Bells Two Hearted Ale. Maybe it is the beer in front of me that is the perfect beer. (coors is the exception)

11. If it's in front of you (and not Budweiser), then it's perfect
I'm partial to the Leinenkugel varieties myself, although if I had my druthers (& were rich),it would be Guinness.

6. Almost makes me wish
That our wintry mix event had been a bit bigger! Okay the ski dude is my fave here, but these are all awesome. Whitish dog, white snow, taut leash--okay LOVE IT!

We had people trying to sled here but it was a bit pathetic....

7. Great work!
As soon as I saw the cyclist, I thought of the old joke about how many fatalities have followed the words: "Hey, y'all. Watch this!" Hope he has a guardian angel.

For such a rare occurrence, those kids sure had their snow platters available fast. :)
