2. I miss summer, too
Edited on Tue Mar-02-10 10:24 PM by Mz Pip
I miss canoeing on Mountain Meadow Reservoir

and I miss seeing miles and miles of dead grass.Such is summer in CA.

But the sunsets in the mountains don't require down parkas for viewing.

4. Sounds is all I can make when seeing these. Sounds of delight over 1 and 3
worry about heat and fire in the second.
I am thinking of getting a small kayak this coming summer. I keep forgetting how old I am.

5. High of 37 & partly cloudy here tomorrow.
And the four inches or so of snow we got last week is nearly gone. But summer, yeah, I miss it.

10. That noble bird gave me 8 tries to capture him
and the only half-decent shot I got was this, when he'd already decided he'd had enough of my hamfistedness.

And just to underscore the theme of this very timely thread, even this guy is ready for spring, though it will mean his demise:

Also, in fancy places where they do facials, they put cuke slices on your eyes, my sister tells me.

8. Oh, yes. A harbinger of things to come: all our flower photos. Though these
are what the doctor ordered here and now.
The second one is my favorite, I could rhapsodize about it, but I'll (almost) spare you, thinking it is simply wonderful in how the blooms follow the lines of the fence.

The third one is really special, too. I've never seen these kinds of blossoms, and I love the color and the wonderful relationship of the inside tiny ones to the big ones outside the rim.
It's inevitable now that I'll see one this summer and I'll think of you.

9. The blue one is a hydrangea
Here's another one, not summer flowers but from this year http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=280x70351

16. I will study Hydrangeas this summer. The color is exactly right for one and
it's a compelling look at one.
The other one is, in my humble non-botanist opinion, not a magnolia.

I know Magnolias, some steely ones are friends of mine, and I think those are not magnolias.

Though it does not matter, its is a starkly interesting photo.

22. Is this a magnolia?
If you click on the link you'll see what we call magnolias around here. http://www.gardenwiseonline.ca/gw/blogs/rhizome/2010/02/23/magnolia-tree-blooming-february Maybe they are an Asian import or the northern cousins of your friends?

23. We are getting there
The Magnolia you posted is something we will have in abundance in about a month, I have no idea what we call it.
The first two photos are of that plant in my own yard, taken last year, and the third is what I call a Magnolia blossom, on a Magnolia tree.

The white one I often float in a glass bowl. I can smell it now!

31. The white variety is less common here
It's probably too wet and cold. I've seen a few around but the flowers usually turn brown and mushy before they've even opened fully.

Just how I remember, except I don't have a chance to swim with beautiful dogs. This photo has potential for some awesome crops.

I usually present them as they were taken and don't think of alterations. What were you thinking on this shot?

20. How do you know? (glad to oblige)
All I know is that after I told the Dell dude what I do on the computer I had to go up to some better media type computer. It was actually fun talking to the Dell dude and doing a thumbs up/down on the various features. All my files were causing this one to crash, and the computer guy I hired refused to put my pictures and videos back on here. I really HATE not having access to them. I ordered it last Wednesday, and they said March 12. But, yesterday their website said it had been shipped, so it could be here today or tomorrow (hopefully).

21. It will be there - very soon.
When I bought mine it came early as a great surprise.
You'll be so happy with a new, fast computer.

Depends from where it shipped. Could be my town.
We have a Dell plant. It was scheduled to close in Jan. But now, they say, it's July.
Might it have been your order to delay the down sizing?

a very famous ice cream place (regionally famous) and at the entrance to Pisgah forest, where sliding glass rock is, and the start of all those wonder ful hikes to waterfalls.

The menu is interminable, there is nothing related to ice cream you can't get there.

I think I'll go to my files and find a photo of two ladies sitting there with their cones and their dogs, and if I find it in time, I'll insert it here for you.

Here it is:

35. I love how the chairs are empty, then full.
Plus the colors! Anyhow, here in western Washington state, we don't get much of a typical harsh winter. We do get dreadfully long dark days though, so the thought of summer means only one thing to me. Baseball!

36. Great unbelievably good shot.
It has it all. And I have never been to a baseball game, and am still very impressed, and I see why it's so great.
You had that in a contest, but I forget which one, but I remember it did well.

Thanks, for liking my 2 chair pictures.
I think the little story they tell is nice.

I love bikes - in the summer.
I look at them - in the winter.
Thanks for that great picture.
