Thankyou to everyone for your kind words. I hope you will accept this
as thanks to each of you individually. I apologize for introducing such a morbid tone into the group; I was really, really upset last evening, and needed to express it. Thankyou for understanding. I'll close with a few more of my favorite pics of Mewie, and, again, thankyou for reaffirming this as the absolute best group on DU.

I rented computer space from her, via tuna and kitty treats...

...which payment she demanded with a certain frequency...

...and would usually then resume napping.

She did sleep quite a bit

2. A tribute so moving
to her (and to us, too) that it makes me wonder why I never had a cat.
Though all very beautiful, the last one has a rare classical beauty.

I know you are glad you have these photos.

4. You haven't lived until you dream that you are being buried

alive in a tuna scented tomb, then wake up to a purring cat on your chest. Of course sometimes it's the cat that has the bad dream, wakes up with a start, then peels out across your face. Once your face heals, you can see the humor in it. At least once the cat will jump into the bath tub with you. That is something one has to experience once in their life. They don't understand that you are trying to save them from drowning. Again, you will some day see the humor in it.

Still a cat is a perfect pet for the person who can live with an animal that holds you in contempt, knows it is superior to you, and has no respect for antiques.

Dogs see you as a god, cats keep you grounded by showing you your place in the food chain. I highly recommend cats to people who have a realistic image of themselves. They add so much to a home, but frequent vacuuming will keep it to a minimum.

I loved my cat, and maybe someday I will get another.

7. I have seen cats look at their owners, who feed them, and love them, and
keep them healthy with an expression of :
"You have disappointed me yet again".
Just before they walk off.

Very funny how you expressed the contribution to the home, that is handled by the vaccuum.

8. Dog owners understand the vacuum too, so I figured it
is universal.

My bird was real good at showing disappointment. I think she was a Republican.

9. Yup. I understand both.
My dogs were Shepherd - Lab - and Huskie.
My birds - always - are canaries.
I used to even breed the birds, and they were all Republicans.

10. In the case of parrots, they fall in love with their image
in mirrors and will mate with anything. Yep, Republicans.

3. Not sure how to phrase this in typing
without looking wrong but here goes. Glad you shared your loss with us though still so sorry for your loss. You needed support and the group was here to give it. It is a gift both ways. Hope at least some of the edge has worn off the pain though I know it can take a long time to heal.

Note to Mira- You just don't know what you are missing to sleep with the rumble of a purring cat next to you all night long. All is right with the world when a cat is purring. My SO is still waiting for someone to find a way to package that so he can sleep better on the road.
