The camera was still lying there from when I shot the tulip shoots this morning
And there was this wonderful afternoon sun streaming in

I'm really partial to the first one.
Hope you like it, too.

1. Button mums!
Is that the right name? Now I'm questioning my flower id skills.

I like them all. The first one is very pretty and the colours in the third one are so rich. I like the background in the second. The striped light creates visual interest without detracting from the flowers. I think, if it were my photo I would crop out the blurry flowers on the right side as they are a bit distracting but that is only my opinion.

Now I want to eat that fruit.

2. I guess Mums would be right, but I'm not sure.
I bought them on sale for a quarter of a short song a few days after Valentines, and they are still beautiful.

I think you mean crop the blurry ones in shot one?
Hmmm. I liked the crop because I am so partial to the ones rising sharp from the center, and I thought the blurry ones helped with that image.

But I'll play with it because I am not a flower photographer and I do like that one.

Thanks.
And about our magnolias:
You should ever get lucky enough to smell one!
Come on down when they are in bloom, and I will make sure there is plenty of fresh fruit to eat, too.

3. Actually I meant in #2
I like the blurry ones in #1. They add depth to the flowers in the foreground. I'm not sure they're having the same effect in #2. If that makes any sense.

I would love to travel down there one day. Your pictures make it look so wonderful.

9. I like the light in 2. It's backlit enough to add drama.
I like the way the color intensifies as you move toward the base of the flower.

7. these are great Mira
But they do look pretty much like mums to me.

This is obviously going to be the "plant and animal misidentification and confusion" spring. And it hasn't even begun.

This makes me wonder--cardinals, mums, magnolias, etc. We can't seem to agree what is what! I think I am a trend watcher, and this is fascinating to me. And we are all learning various classifications and regional differences.

As for your photos, the first and third are just outstanding. The third would have made a wonderful still life entry.

Speaking of entries, do we know what the theme is this month?

8. Thanks my friend, and
we'll make botanists of each other yet, pooling our info.
I think CC knows the most, but she's more quiet than we are.

Theme:
No clue. I PM'ed the winner and offered help a few days ago.
(after all, I feel responsible because he came in with his photo after I went in the Lounge and asked for a few submissions)

No response yet.
Maybe he is putting his offers to help on a dart board.
