More beautiful decay...{{pic heavy}}
I like the subject of this months contest. I went out this morning to Mission San Jose this morning, and took these.

Some of the original plaster work

The Rose Window - considered one of the finest pieces of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country.

1. These are beautiful!
I think they're almost too well preserved to be considered decay.

I especially love the third pic, of the arches. Wow! The symmetry is just gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing...

4. Thanks. This is the view from the opposite end. But I like the angle
better in the top pic. I didn't get the definition I wanted in this one.

5. these look good
But you might get more decay at some of the other missions. I went to one of the lesser missions about ten years ago, and they had labels on the various exhibits, written with a MANUAL TYPEWRITER! I'm serious. I can't remember if it was Mission Estrada or which one it was. It has probably been changed by now, but I bet there is more crumbling stone at the other ones. San Jose looks pristine in comparison. It is still really interesting though. Have you ever taken pictures of the Aqueduct? That thing is beautiful.

6. WOW = another reason to come to San Antonio =
I've only been to Fort Worth on a few conventions, and Dallas, too.

But now I know why I'm told to branch out to San Antonio. Very striking photos, 3 and 5 are especially beautiful.
Thank you for sharing your outing.
More?

I like the bonus photo, too.

7. As GreenPartyVoter said upthread, the arches!
I would love to see this at 800 px wide. The textures, the light, the patterns - just freakin' wow to that. If you can post a larger version, can you also bump the color saturation a little? I think it would help present this scene as finely as it could ever be presented.

8. Here ya go. I bumped up the saturation a little, and I think the brick
work shows a little more.
