Season of the Sakura
It's Spring so it's officially cherry blossom season. The cherry blossoms are from a species of tree that doesn't actually produce the cherry fruit. In Japan, they have the flower viewing for the sakura (Japanese flowering cherry). From what I understand, it's pretty much an excuse to get out to the park and have a picnic/drinking session. Here in Vancouver, there's actually an annual Cherry Blossom Festival (pretty low-key, despite the name). It was canceled this year due to the Olympics but should resume next year.

Here are a few photos of the blossoms.

And one slightly more interesting photo of a fly enjoying the blossoms.

3. blue effect
I was afraid it would make it look too washed out but apparently not.

4. Agreed. Those colors are straight from an Impressionist painting.
A fraction of a second of utter peaceful beauty. "Uplifting" is the perfect word.

5. Beautiful!
I'm so grateful to everyone who is posting their spring pics. There is still not much to see down here except a few daffodils (okay, maybe more than a few as some people have them planted in random patterns all over their yards. LOL) and some forsythia. So the predominant color right now is yellow.

But the fields are starting to green up so that's a really good sign. :hi:
