1. Great job with the light in these |
|
I love the halo type effect behind the first tree. It's behind the third tree, too. It's kind of mysterious.
I actually wouldn't mind a tree contest sometime. Be sure to save these, just in case!

In both of those, I was positioned so that the late sun was behind the tree. The light was pretty brutal in the early afternoon, but was beginning to settle down nicely by 4 or so. It's just a delight to be out shooting with no need for gloves or a heavy coat these days.
And I second the tree theme for a contest!

3. I really like these! That first one is a stunner. |

I certainly agree with Celebration about the lighting; and the color is wonderful.

5. Well...I'll be sacrificing some reading time during the first 9 days of April... |
|
...to move my eldest daughter from Philly to San Diego, so she can start her residency. Not quite as long as I'd like for a cross-country roadtrip, but there are time constraints on this one. Still; gonna' head south to Atlanta, then hang a right and head for SoCal. So, I expect I'll take some shots along the way. :D

6. The first one is my favourite too |
|
I like the silhouette against the light, and the way the other trees frame the bright patch.
The second to last one is mesmerizing with the repeating patterns of twigs. Fractals are fun.

9. Thanks! That second to last was a surprise. |
|
The polarizer really brought the sky down dark and gave the photo a twilight feel, almost an underwater feel.
The pic looked like crap on the LCD, but with a few little tweaks on the RAW file, it turned out okay.

As with others who have commented, my favourite is the first one. The third one comes close but I like the clear blue expanse around the trunk of the tree in the first.

Well, like everyone else, my favorite is the first one too...
But I must say I LOVE the one with the moon! I have never been able to get that sort of clarity...
It's beautiful...
Thank you for sharing your genius with all us lucky enough to be here!

12. My dear CaliforniaPeggy! |
|
Thanks so much. That's high praise I'm unworthy of, but I appreciate it all the same.
Took half a dozen tries to get the moon sharp using manual focus, after a couple of auto focus attempts failed. My eyesight isn't good enough to trust in a lot of situations like this, but fortunately one of the six was acceptable and the repeated attempts didn't cost a thing. Hooray for digital!
