1. MG..where is that?
No lawns to mow, at least.

4. It's in the Alps, just above Zermatt, right before the major snowfalls...
It's a rstaurant/inn/bar, available to skiers during ski season but closed when I took this (for obvious reasons) :D

7. I was just going to pose the same question.
It reminded me of the Swiss Alps, and sho'nuff...

Has an end-of-the-world quality to it, though I just finished reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road and suddenly everything I look at has a haunting end-of-the-world quality.

8. Obviously, I boosted the saturation; but not as much as some might think...
You've been there, so you know the unexpected variation in colors that are found in the geology of the Alps.

I always think of some "moonscape" when I look at the series of photos this came from. :D

9. It is quite remarkable how miles of almost monochrome landscapes
can suddenly change to vivid color. Your shot reminds me of terrain I saw on a postal coach excursion near Andermatt. Bleak yet very appealing.

2. How to the residents get there?
Helecopter? Tank? I guess my other question would be how did this place even get built?

Interesting view from the upstairs window watching the glacier recede, though.

That photo certainly gives the opportunity for quite a narrative.

5. By ski...it's a seasonal restaurant/inn on the slopes above Zermatt
Beautiful when up and running and covered with snow...has kind of an otherworldly view in the off-season. :hi:

3. That can't possibly be a boat parked by the side, can it?
Waiting for the glacier to melt perhaps?

6. lol...no, it's part of an outdoor bar area...
this is a seasonal skier's stopping place...combo inn/restaurant/etc....closed for the off-season. The heavy snows started while we were there (Zermatt) but this was the only shot I took of it. :D
