Sunrise this morning
.... at my friend's house.

I got to an internet cafe to spend a few min to send this. Just the shots, I barely had
time to look at them, congrats to Schema thing and all the others.

This in near Nuevo Arenal, and the Volcano is active, spews fire every night.

5. DEL TRÓPICO (from the Tropics)
Edited on Fri Apr-30-10 07:20 PM by Xipe Totec
Congratulations; you captured the mood of Rubén Darío, when he wrote one of the poems that made him an icon in Latinamerica.

How joyful and fresh the morning is!
The air grabs me by the nose:
dogs are barking, a kid is screaming
and a young girl, plump and pretty
grinds her corn on a large a stone.

A young man comes down the road
with his satchel and his tools:
another with sandals but with no hat
looks for his cow missing with calf
to milk her by the corral.

Smiling sometimes at the young girl
that from the stone moved to the hearth,
a handsome plainsman, watches her movement,
and sharpens his axe, sitting on hunches
on the edge of his whetstone.

The light is lost over the hillocks
under an endless clear sky;
while the cattle chews on the grass,
and to the stems of that green grass,
cling some beetles colored in crimsom and gold.

Sounding a horn, curved and loud,
a cowboy passes, in plain light
followed by cows and a white bull,
with golden spots
on belly and forehead.

While my mother, beating and beating,
rejoices me with the hope
of a brimming cup of chocolate,
that will pass down my gullet
with a tostada, and fresh cottage cheese.

Qué alegre y fresca la mañanita!
Me agarra el aire por la nariz:
los perros ladran, un chico grita
y una muchacha gorda y bonita,
junto a una piedra, muele maíz.

Un mozo trae por un sendero
sus herramientas y su morral:
otro con caites y sin sombrero
busca una vaca con su ternero
para ordeñarla junto al corral.

Sonriendo a veces a la muchacha,
que de la piedra pasa al fogón,
un sabanero de buena facha,
casi en cuclillas afila el hacha
sobre una orilla del mollejón.

Por las colinas la luz se pierde
bajo el cielo claro y sin fin;
