Meeting chicks...

I went to the Reifel bird sanctuary today. There were mostly ducks, geese, and a few red winged blackbirds. I didn't get much in way of good photos of anything else. I did, however, meet a lot of chicks...

3. I got quite close

As you can tell from the last shot, the path wasn't very wide. I took all but the last shot pretty close to where the ducks were. I was pretty much stuck for a while because the chicks and geese were blocking the path and the parents would hiss at me if I got too close. Turning back would have meant going a long way around. Eventually, I turned away to face the water on my left and stood really still. They passed by me without a hiss and I took the last shot. The ducks, incidentally, had no problem with me and were within a couple feet of me during most of the photos.

4. Such personality

That last one is like a Sunday stroll, and the 3 little guys look like they just got mad at mom and are hatching a scheme to run away from home. What fun!

I miss the ducks and chicks I used to have. They are such fun to watch.
