So they are planting a million trees at Shelby Farms

The conservancy picked that urban park designer as the basis for the park design--Aussie accent--"my plan calls for planting a million trees." It was just an outrageous enough idea that everyone thought, "go for it." Are we making up for the deforestation of the Amazon basin?

In any case, that makes for a lot of short, new trees, and the birds love them. I have my pick of birds on top of new trees. The cardinals and bluebirds have not found this part of the park, but I get mockingbirds and blackbirds on top of trees about ten feet high, and lots of killdeer on the ground. This photo opportunity will last until the trees grow, I suppose.
