Does anyone know of a service that will allow me to do all of the following…
1. Upload photos to the internet one time, in full size and resolution. 2. Maintains all metadata. 3. Allow me to redirect these photos to other online services, when I am ready, at either full size and resolution or smaller size and resolution, my choice. 4. For posting mostly to Flickr, a WordPress blog (WP), and of course, DU photo contests. 5. Low cost or free.
Why? For a good part of the summer, I will be limited to either a dial-up internet connection, or a faster wireless plan, but with limited monthly data transfer. Uploading photos multiple times will be either a drag or waste of limited data resources.
What I've found so far…
Flickr (have a paid account here) Plusses: full size and resolution, maintains metadata, some resize options Minuses: If posted at full size, they can be reposted at either 500px or 1024px. Nothing in between. So not good for my WP blog or DU photo contests, both 800px limits. Everything controlled by upload date.
Pixelpipe: Plusses: full size and resolution (I think), maintains metadata. Supports Flickr and WP. Free Minuses: no resizing options, must forward to other services in same size and resolution as uploaded. So when sent to Flickr full size, there are no resized options between 500px and 1024px.
iSyndica: Plusses: full size and resolution, lets me resize for other "social" services (I think), maintains metadata. Supports Flickr. A free option. Minuses: No WP support. For WP, will have to route through Flickr, with it's above limitations.
Well I hope I've explained this well enough. Any questions or suggestions, leave them here. Thanks!
