Timing
Can you believe I finally actually got some "storm" photos? Not much of a storm, but it did rain a bit. Oddly enough, no changes at all on these pics. At first I didn't like them, but then realized it was because I was viewing them on my husband's laptop, and NO photos look decent on that thing. Everything looks good on my new Dell monitor. So I don't really know if these are any good or not, but at least they are stormy.

2. I like that last one
Especially if you chop off about an inch of the bottom so your eye is drawn more to the eeriness of the bare trees and then the single bird. Is he going to brave the storm, or does he know it's just a passing shower and nothing to fear. But then I'm always a sucker for tree shots.

4. I almost posted this one
And you might like it better. I think I may.........there is the bird flying but also another one in the lower left. This looks kind of eerie and scary, but it was more just the way the clouds were passing behind these particular trees. Hubby was fishing and moving the boat around so I had to wait until the bare tree and clouds were in the same frame. I'm sort of a sucker for silhouette shots myself, and bare trees are pretty good candidates for that. As for cropping, yeah, I almost always do that, but I was trying to see what happened with no processing. Landscapes that you can set up do better with that than birds.
