4. It is hard to get rearview mirrors to look right
but L11"s works as a complete mind fuck. Love it.

The first four ( four pictures submitted before mine) really points to the talent of the people on this board. F Gordon, your picture is downright spooky. It would not have worked as a color photo. Smart move doing it in black and white. Blue, that's one of the better lake images blue great eye. It is otherworldly, beautiful.

ETA, the Trinity reflections is clear as a fucking bell. The colors could not have been better. You really portray the tension between the material and the spiritual. To me, it is the most thought provoking one of the four.

Nearly every environment has been exploited by the photographer. You'se guys have succeeded in keeping it fresh and interesting. The sense of wonder comes through.

6. Thanks ...
Not a lake but Cook Inlet (sort of a fjord-like thing that Anchorage lives beside). What was unusual about this photograph for me was that the inlet is very, very seldom this still. It's attached to the ocean and usually has small waves or whitecaps.

But I wasn't entirely happy with the way it looked resized. It loses a lot of detail, especially in my brother's face.

it is such an unexpected shot. I can't wait to see what else is entered. I was debating on using this shot but thought it was to out of focus and a little over exposed.

You can tweak the focus a little with Photoshop, but since it's a night shot it's not a real problem.

30. OK, I switched the photo I submitted.
I got back early from vacation and didn't really like that beaver lake shot... not for entry into this contest, anyway. I wanted to play with both meanings of "reflection", so I decided to reflect on war in my ancestry. That dual meaning probably isn't obvious to anyone but me, but... you know... I liked the effect.

I actually liked this photo better

because I think it shows the family resemblance, but I didn't like that you can see how messy my bedroom is in the reflection. :silly:

I should have thought of that when I was trying to get a better reflection in the cat's eye. Even though she's 16+ she still wouldn't sit still. That's why I ended up with Mr. Nibbles - Guinea pigs rarely blink. Or move.

42. Mr. Nibbles is a very handsome
guinea pig, although his eyes are not particularly beautiful. I'll post a picture of all of him when I find it - it is temporarily in hiding. His name comes from his tendency to nibble people's hands.

The kitty with the beautiful eyes is Peedunk, or more often Ms. Peedunkitty. She came to us 16 years ago with her sister, as an abandoned kitty when she was about a week old - far too young to have a personality. We started calling both of them Peedunk until they developed personalities. Peedunk was my father's term of affection for little kids. We decided one of the sisters should keep the name.

The rest of the menagerie includes Patience (Peedunk's sister), Butterskotch (another cat), two goldfish (don't ever give feeder fish an aerator unless you want BIG goldfish), and as of Tuesday - Winnie (a rabbit).

There will be a test tomorrow....

that Friday night through Saturday late day seems to be a very slow time in this forum.

Tis a shame, since Friday night/Saturday early afternoon is generally when I get to slow down and I'm more likely to be surfing.

47. Maybe its just the "Dog Days".
I had nothing until yesterday. I almost just passed on the August contest, but felt compelled to run out and get something at the last minute. (For me)It felt like shopping for a last minute gift on Christmas Eve, or writing a term paper the night before it is due.....

Is it just me (probably), or does it seem like every month may be too much?
Where did the time go?

50. Something?
If your entry is a "rush job".... you should wait until the last minute every month. Looks like we have two "Movie Themes" in this group. Your title works very well.

Mine? It's funny. When I show friends my series and tell them they are based on the Movie Phantasm they all look at me like I'm crazy. They never saw or heard of it.

Where did the time go indeed. I didn't realize there were responses to my post... I really should head out now ... go on a walkabout and look for something to point a camera at. :P

Have a great weekend all!!!
