2. Under cover in a recessed doorway. |
|
Just deep enough to keep the camera from getting wet, though if the wind had been blowing from another direction, that might not have been the case. All these shots were taken from within the recess, which measures maybe 5' x 3'. It turned out to be a good vantage point.

3. Simply wonderful depictions of serious rain. One and three are a real slice of life. |
|
The fourth one makes me want to be at home, snug as a bug.
There is a song from my childhood about loud rain on the roof, loosely translated:
"And I have it so nice, so nice, lying at home in my bed my bed, covering myself all over and sleeping in sweet peace while the rain hits my roof"

9. Thanks for sharing that song! |
|
It's a wonderful thing to be snug in bed listening to the rain.

Reminds me of a couple experiences with my true loves, like the pic of her and kids. New Hampshire mountains trail, lost it in heavy rain while coming down with (still) true love #1, so followed the creek and we danced/pranced down rain flattened grassy slopes. Later with truer and deeper love#2 and life partner and later mother of our (just awesome) kids at some rained on gloomy start campsite I went out or our meager shelter and danced (well that implies more talent) in the rain. But I celebrated the rain.
Who was it. what was it? "An American in Paris" maybe. "Dancing in the Rain." Saw that as a child, and got imprinted. We moved to Seattle decades ago and raised our kids there.
My reaction, FWIW

6. These are really great, |
|
and thanks for the explanation of your vantage point for shooting.
The bike gived me the impression of abandonment . . . maybe because of the rain?
I really like the third photo too. The mom and the little girl seem to be enjoying the rain, while the baby is not so happy.

12. Thanks! I hope the bike's owner was in one of the shops waiting it out. |
|
I was lucky to have walked down there that day. Had to borrow an umbrella for the walk home, which gave me a chance to get a few more shots on the way.

the stroller and the kid. Makes me want to cheer for them-- hurry, hurry.
Were you dry when you took these?

My friend's apartment is above a store there. It's always cool to walk down the long stairs to the front door and step out into the smell of spices wafting from dozens of restaurants and paan shops, with anything from bhangra to classical Indian music as a soundtrack. That particular afternoon was monsoon season, I guess.:)
