Info on posting in Photography forums |
|
I have been a lurker here for years, and have posted in various places but not in Photography. I want to know about the size of the photos that I am allowed to post also in the monthly contest what are the rules for posting such as dates when photo was taken, size and what is allowed for photoshopping or as in my case Gimping the shots... I have been looking for rules, but so far I haven't found anything...
Any help or guidelines would be gratefully appreciated

I've just been looking at your SmugMug photos and reveling in the beauty to be found there.
You'll find rules posted in each contest's submissions thread, but one constant (though much debated) rule is 200k in file size and no longer than 800 pixels on the longest side. We had vigorous discussion about the rules earlier this year, but it seems safe to say we have general agreement for the time being. The issue of post-processing was considered for a hard-and-fast rule, but no real consensus was reached as far as I recall. None of what I've seen in your SmugMug gallery seems excessive in terms of processing to my humble eye.
Unless a contest host specifies otherwise, archival photos are acceptable if you don't shoot something new for a given contest. I actually won my first contest with a photo I'd had sitting around for four years or so.
Glad you found this group and look forward to seeing more from your beautiful corner of the world.

Exactly what I was wanting to know. I have thousands of shots, most are just snapshots, but I always have a camera with me or close at hand here at home to grab shots like the Rainbow (shot in our back yard) or a sunset or sunrise...
Thank you for your quick reply and concise answer

Still going through your photos as the hearing I was working on today ended unexpectedly at noon, and I feel like I'm on vacation. Your flower shots alone are a feast, and then the landscapes and the sunsets... I'm knocked out.
