"Smash His Camera"
I caught most of this documentary the other night on CBC Newsworld:

http://www.cbc.ca/documentaries/passionateeyeshowcase/2010/smashhiscamera/

It's about the infamous godfather of paparazzi, Ron Galella. There's a link at the site to view it; I think it'll remain available for 10 days or so.

Personally, I think Galella is pretty repugnant and not much of a photographer. That Mrs. Onassis wanted to "smash his camera" and that Brando punched him in the face are not things that cause me much consternation. But the documentary fascinated me from the point of view of both rights of photographers and rights of privacy, and a lot of it overlapped into issues of folks like me who enjoy getting out in the street and shooting just because.

If anyone watches it, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
