1. I would give my kingdom for having taken this. Because it would mean
I have been there and seen it.
This photo has everything, color, a beautiful division of space, foreground, background, a middle that sizzles.
WOW

THanks for this, Bluedigger.

2. For you, my friend, another.

No one was more surprised (and pleased) than I was when I saw what I had here. The day I took them I was disappointed with the light and underwhelmed by the view, spectacular though it was. It had been a long hot drive to get there, and I left the pics unopened on the hard drive for a couple of weeks...

14. I haven't been shooting or scanning for a while,
so I haven't posted much, but I read and view here almost every evening.

Thinking about posting some of my oldies, which is at least one step in the direction of acting.

5. Incredible
They're both incredible and they really support each other. I would be proud to have shot either of these photographs.

7. I have a real appreciation for the talent it took to get this shot (and those downthread)
The post-processing is damn-near perfect too. I won't embarrass myself by guessing what kind of post you had to do and getting it wrong, but suffice it to say, I know from experience a lot of the pitfalls that can occur in a multistep process, and whatever your process, it's flawless. This one needs to be stretched over canvas and hung.

10. Thanks, DisgustipatedinCA
I think several of these may end up as large prints. As for the postprocessing, I keep it stupid simple. I use Photoshop Elements 7.0. After opening my original image,I usually have to edit out a blemish (I think I have a bad whatsunhoosit or something:rofl:) using the Guided editing. A crop, if needed. Then I go back to the Quick edit, and run through the functions letting the program do it's thing. I never mess with the individual color levels myself, and seldomly use the sharpen. Color and contrast, basically, what a "film" photographer would do in the darkroom. Finally, I go back to the Guided edit. It has a function called Saturated Slide Film Effect. I run, that, usually twice, I think, on these, until I like it. The whole "process" usually takes me about a minute per photo. Well, that's the beauty of the digital medium!

I went a little too far with this one.

15. I have to agree,
But it actually brought up the purple to what it actually looks like, now if you could back down on the orange/red just a nudge or two The summer grass all gold and silver along with the sage is perfect for that part of the state. I would like to have a problem like this on a photo, my major concern is the constant tropical blue haze, that I still am learning how to fight.

Really Nice work. Do you live close to the hills?

17. Better?

No, I don't live near the Painted Hills. Not many people do - it's out in the high desert 75 miles west of Bend, Oregon. I have been on a vacation due to the loss of my job. I had a lot of trouble with smoke haze east of Yosemite, but those are pics for another day...

16. Pretty great!
We inhabit a world of wonders. It's so important that these things can be captured and conveyed so easily and so well.

Thank you.
